What is the GHG carbon footprint?
In this chapter we will explain what the GHG carbon footprint is.
The GHG carbon footprint (Greenhouse Gas Balance) in the context of the CSRD ( is a systematic recording and presentation of a company’s greenhouse gas emissions aimed at ensuring transparency about its climate impact. It includes reporting on direct emissions (Scope 1), indirect emissions from purchased energy (Scope 2), and other indirect emissions across the value chain (Scope 3). The GHG balance is a key component of sustainability reporting under the ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards), promoting comparability between companies and serving as the basis for defining climate targets and implementing emission reduction measures. It not only helps companies meet legal requirements but also supports the development of sustainable business practices.
