How can I turn on email notifications for new chat messages?

To turn on notifications, first click on the chat icon.

Now select a chat that contains the crossed-out bell icon.

Click on the three dots in the top right corner.

Click on Activate notifications.

Notification has been reactivated and the crossed-out bell icon disappears.
